Timber illegal logging and transportation statistics - February, 2024

The National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture employees detected 74 illegal logging and timber transportation cases in February 2024 across the country.

29 violations were detected by the employees of the Kakheti Forest Service, 3 - Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 8 - Kvemo Kartli, 8 - Samtskhe-Javakheti, 5 - Shida Kartli, 9- Guria, 5 - Imereti, 5 - Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, and 2 - Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti Forest Service.

Documentation has been prepared for the offenders, and their vehicles have been impounded and moved to the agency's "business yards". Case materials were sent to relevant agencies for further response.

In February 2024, National Forestry Agency employees impounded 110.424 cubic meters of various wood types, which were moved to the agency's "business yards".

As for the period from January to February 2024, the National Forestry Agency has identified 98 facts of illegal logging and transportation of timber throughout the country, the volume of resources stored in "business yards" amounts to 167.234 cubic meters.
